How Much Sod Do You Need?
Calculating how much sod you need starts with the square footage of your lawn. Measure the length × width of each area you plan to sod, then add the sections together to determine your total lawn size.
At Venice Sod, we calculate approximately 400 square feet of coverage per pallet. Our calculator also allows you to add extra material for cuts, curves, edges and irregular areas.
For most projects, adding approximately 10% extra sod is a useful starting point so you aren't left short during installation.
A 2,000 sq. ft. lawn with 10% added for cuts and waste equals 2,200 sq. ft. At approximately 400 sq. ft. per pallet, the calculator recommends 6 pallets.
Each Sod Pallet Covers Approximately 400 Sq. Ft.
One of the most important numbers when ordering sod in Florida is 400 square feet.
A standard pallet of the sod varieties we sell covers approximately 400 sq. ft. The exact amount of sod you'll need depends on the size and shape of your lawn, which is why measuring carefully before ordering is important.
The calculator automatically rounds your order up to the next full pallet so you have enough material to complete the lawn.
